History of the Physics Department 1980s to present

Dive right in if you have tidbits about the department. Any pictures showing some milestone of the department is definitely welcomed.

Florida State administrators on April 13th, 2009 released a draft of proposed sweeping cutbacks at the university, based on current reductions in state revenue. 21 degree programs at FSU would be eliminated, including anthropology, German, oceanography, physical education and golf. The Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Institute (GFDI located in the basement of the Keen Building) was one of the programs targeted for elimination. [1]

Note: Nobody is losing their jobs, GFDI is simply going to merged with other very similar programs.
